Trust needs to be earned back otherwise players are just going to go elsewhere, GT is no longer the only horse in the field and they need to act like it. They need to apologise, fix the servers, scale down the grind dramatically and enable offline play for the bulk of content outside of online multiplayer. Heck, make it two platinums if they want people to play the heck out of both, and do DLC cars if they really want people to pay a bit extra for stuff, I'd imagine a lot of fans would be happy to do that! Gran Turismo mode should always be playable offline, for a lot of players it is the bread and butter of the series and the reason why GT Sport was slower to sell compared to previous titles. As in separate progression system, unlocks, everything, the only common feature is that the cars drive the same as the main game. If it was true for the e-sport stuff, the Sport mode could have been completely separate. I never got the 'FIA said we need it to be online only!' spiel from Polyphony Digital, it made no sense.
